Walk for the Park 3.0 - 'Family special'*

Walk for the Park 3.0 - 'Family special'*

Description

Back again with a bang, the Walk for the Park is back for the 3rd year in a row. This years Walk moves away from the previous hardcore sponorship affair and rather focusses on a Family and Community orientated day of fun activities including Bar and BBQ, games for all the family and a Hanging Bar challenge with cash prizes!

This years walk will take place on Saturday 14th June and as its Father’s day the following day (Sunday) there will be plenty of games  centered around ‘Embarrass your dad’

Claim the prestigious accolade of ‘Grettons Supreme Hanging champion’ by taking part in this years Hanging Bar challenge. Just £1 to take part and there are cash prizes for the winner.

We’ll also be putting on games for the children and parents to make this years event fun for all.

We will have a bar and BBQ and if we can source some stocks you may get the chance to throw a wet sponge at your dad kids!  :)

The Walk for the Park has historically been a sponsorship event helping to raise some much needed funds for our Village Park. The Gretton Village Association (GVA) has recieved fantastic support from funders and from the local community which has seen an amazing upgrade to the park facilities behind the Hall. The money made from the last 2 years Walks currently sits in an allocated pot and we have reached an amazing amount of £8,000! This pot is being built up to help pay for the proposed perimeter access track and bench seating to make the Playing Field more accessible and attactive for the whole community.

The funds from this event will contribute towards this pot and we are looking to reach a total of £30k from this and further walks and events to make this amazing upgrade happen.

If you are interested in making a donation to this cause you can do so at www.gofund.me/14b34baf

The walk is due to start in the morning of the 14th and the plan is to all set off at similar times. The route above will include a 10mile loop , starting and ending at the Village Hall. There will be an ‘inner loop’ of 5 miles to cater more for the smaller children that cant make the 10. If there is particular interest in a slightly smaller loop of 2 or 3 miles please reach out and we can easily accommodate.

We will structure this years Walk to be more of a Family and Community event, aiming to leave at similar times making it a great chance to meet and connect with some new faces.

*The routes above are indicative at this stage. Please keep an eye on socials or our new website for the published route.  Start time at Hall 2pm - Walk start time to be confirmed
